The Beacon’s classic and functional design was inspired by two durable and lasting pieces that came before it. Its body shape and protective casing is influenced by the design of traditional fisherman’s lantern, often called the onion lamp.
These lanterns served as fishermen’s primary source of light, and aided the crew in staying the course through even the most tumultuous of elements. Offering another source of inspiration for its body shape and directly influencing the inclusion of the carabineer top is the traditional coal miners’ lamp.
Anchored throughout mining tunnels, these lanterns served as miners’ guardians as they worked through dangerous environments. A nod to both designs, enhanced by Barebones’ signature beauty and durability principles, has shed a new beam on outdoor and exploration lighting.
